Thanks for stopping by. I’m Mike Durek, and this is the site for my private teaching practice. My goal is to give you and your family the skills and tools that you need to enjoy music for the rest of your lives.
Though I make my livelihood through music, I understand that most of my students aren’t going to pursue music as a career. And though some of my students go on to study music in college, I’m not prepping them for a childhood of unsustainable practice schedules. What I do is teach my students a well-rounded fundamental curriculum, in the instruments that I teach – piano and guitar. I also gradually teach my students how to practice and how to advance by themselves. I help them develop confidence, a solid technique, vision, concentration, and help them enjoy the process of learning and advancing. Teach a student one song, and the student will know one song. Teach a student good technique, how to read, practice, listen, and set goals, and his or her pursuit and enjoyment of music knows no bounds.
