Very thankful to Mr. Mike for patiently teaching my two kids for almost a decade! I really appreciate his taking them as students when they were little kids, with the very basics, starting with lesson-1 in piano! They are able to play reasonably complex pieces today, mainly because of his teaching.

Mike is just a wonderful, encouraging teacher. I have a ten year old son who has been learning piano for the last four years from him and he can’t wait for his piano lessons. Same goes for my six year old son who recently started but always looks forward to his lesson. My son had to choose a special person for his school project and he chose him for the same. That itself says it all. I would highly recommend his services and if there was a rating measure I would give him straight 5 stars.

My 16 year old son has been taking guitar lessons for the past 4 years with Mike. My son has Autism and it was very difficult to find an instructor who would work with a child with special needs. Mike took my son, Alex, as a student without question and they clicked immediately! Mike is a great instructor who cares about his students and my son absolutely adores him! I don’t think Alex will ever want another teacher! I highly recommend Jersey City Music Lessons!

Mike has been my daughter’s piano teacher for the last 2 years. He is a wonderful and polite Pianist. He teaches very patiently, and encourages his students to have them practice well. We recommended Mike to many of our friends, and they all have expressed a good opinion about him. During Christmas time my daughter played piano at a friend’s house, there were more than 25 people who listened her piano performance. At the end of her playing, every one said she gave an amazing performance. One of my other friends, who is also a music teacher came from Canada also saw her performance and praised my daughters exhibit. I am planning to start piano lessons for my second daughter with Mike very shortly. I would strongly recommend Mike to any one who is willing to take piano lessons.

My name is Owen Hayes, and Michael Durek was my teacher for four years. He taught me Bass Guitar as my main instrument, and also Piano and Guitar. Under his instruction I learned about theory and technique while also having the opportunity to choose what direction I wanted to take my playing. Mike taught me a great deal, but the most important thing he taught me was how to practice. Mike teaches many different aspects of music but first he lays a foundation of practice methods that make learning much more conducive than simply learning theory and technique by themselves. His methods still remain a huge part of my practice routine as I continue to pursue my music career. Overall Mike is a great teacher, great friend, and great communicator. Regardless of your skill level, or favored genre etc. I’d highly recommend Mike as a teacher.
